Welcome to GATFFEST: A Cinematic Celebration of Diversity and Creativity!
GATFFEST proudly stands as the Caribbean’s premier community short film festival, an enchanting space where the magic of storytelling takes centre stage on the big screen.
Our Origin Story: Born out of the esteemed Greater August Town Film Project, now reimagined as the UWI Community Film Project, GATFFEST has emerged as a cinematic celebration like no other. Our journey began with a visionary mission – to provide a dedicated platform for the exceptionally talented graduates of the UWI Community Film Project to unveil their cinematic creations. The inaugural Greater August Town Film Festival (GATFFEST), held from June 20-23, 2013, mesmerized audiences with a captivating array of films meticulously crafted by the community’s aspiring filmmakers. The festival’s vibrant atmosphere resonated across The University of the West Indies and the prestigious Palace Cineplex theatre.
A Cultural Phenomenon: Since those humble beginnings, GATFFEST has blossomed into a significant cultural phenomenon, drawing in captivating submissions from both local and international talents every year. Beyond a mere film festival, GATFFEST has evolved into a dynamic platform, shining a spotlight on the brilliant minds behind the lens – directors, producers, casts, and crews alike. It’s an exhilarating opportunity to showcase emerging filmmakers who skillfully weave compelling narratives through a tapestry of short films and documentaries.
Immersive Experience: As GATFFEST continues to flourish, it transcends the boundaries of a traditional film festival – it’s an immersive experience. Join us for premieres, special events, and engaging panel discussions that unite stakeholders from tourism, academia, and the film industry. We extend a heartfelt invitation for you to be a part of this cinematic journey, where professionalism seamlessly meets pure fun, and storytelling knows no bounds. Welcome to GATFFEST – where the reel adventure begins!
