Stick is Life is a vibrant and culturally rich celebration of the Moko Jumbie tradition in Trinidad and Tobago, exploring the revival of one of the Caribbean’s most powerful ancestral art forms. Centered around a historic gathering in Point Fortin—the home of Trinidad and Tobago’s first known Moko Jumbie, Dexter Stewart—the film captures a rare moment when stilt walkers from across the country set aside rivalries and differences to unite in a shared jab circle dedicated to community, heritage, and spirit. Energetic, visually captivating, and deeply rooted in Caribbean identity, the film highlights the resilience of tradition and the unifying power of culture. Stick is Life received the awards for Best Editing and Best International Film, along with nominations for The Spirit of GATFFEST, Best of GATFFEST, Best Screenplay, Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Most Original/Creative. Directed by Barcelona-born filmmaker Miquel Galofré, whose work is known for its empathy, cultural sensitivity, and striking visual storytelling, the film continues his commitment to documenting Caribbean life with authenticity, humanity, and hope.
