On a remote dirt road, a robotic truck driver carries out the routine task of replacing old wooden utility poles with concrete ones — until an unexpected collision with two birds interrupts the mechanical rhythm of his work. Minimalist, atmospheric, and visually striking, The Splint uses simple storytelling and evocative animation to explore themes of disruption, empathy, and environmental coexistence. Despite its brief runtime, the film delivers an emotionally resonant meditation on humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Directed by Iranian animator Mehdi Sedighi, whose animated works have screened at numerous international festivals, The Splint received the Director’s Award for Best Animation at GATFFEST and earned nominations for Best Cinematography and Best International Film.
