Birds of Passage

Birds of Passage (English title) / Pájaros de verano (original title) is directed by acclaimed Colombian filmmakers Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra and will be screened with English subtitles.

Set during Colombia’s marijuana boom, the film follows Rapayet and his indigenous family as they become entangled in the rise of the drug trade. What begins as an opportunity for wealth soon spirals into a violent conflict that threatens not only their lives, but also their ancestral traditions and culture. Visually stunning and emotionally gripping, Birds of Passage is a compelling exploration of family, greed, identity, and survival.

As co-founder of Ciudad Lunar alongside Ciro Guerra, she has produced and co-directed internationally acclaimed works including Embrace of the Serpent and Birds of Passage. Her films often focus on indigenous stories and cultural narratives, earning recognition at major international festivals including Cannes and the Academy Awards.

Ciro Guerra is an internationally celebrated Colombian director and screenwriter whose work has brought Colombian cinema to global audiences.
