Mr. Brown will go to any lengths to protect his beloved mango tree, defending it fiercely from neighbours and passersby alike—so much so that he nearly forgets what truly matters in life. What begins as a simple neighbourhood dispute over fruit quickly unfolds into a humorous reflection on pride, obsession, and misplaced priorities. Lighthearted and distinctly Jamaican in tone, Mango Wars blends everyday community life with playful conflict and character-driven comedy, offering both laughs and gentle social reflection. The film was awarded the Archibald McDonald Award for Best of GATFFEST, along with the Franklyn St. Juste Award for Best Directing, and received nominations for Best Comedy and The Spirit of GATFFEST Award. Directed by Kyle Chin, a Jamaican filmmaker, cinematographer, and educator, the film reflects his versatile storytelling approach and deep connection to Caribbean cinema. A graduate of the Los Angeles Film School and lecturer at UWICFP, Chin brings both international experience and local insight to his work across directing, cinematography, and editing.
